The Tigers hosted Kingsley’s B team on a sunny Saturday morning. The Cavaliers grabbed an early 4-0 lead in the first inning by stringing together three singles. Aleah had a hit to start off the UMS at-bat and scored courtesy of a hit from Abby to make it 4-1 heading into the second. Kingsley added to its lead with another run in the third, but Urbana tacked on three runs in the same inning to give the Cavaliers a slight 5-4 edge. Aleah laid down a bunt and capitalized on a Kingsley error to get to third base off of it. A hit from Abby drove her in once again. Miriam scored after getting on base with a walk and Emily and Tayla also recorded hits in that inning. Kingsley went three up-three down the next two innings, but had another four-run inning in the sixth to extend its lead to 9-4. Miriam issued three strikeouts in the top of the seventh to hold the Cavaliers. Aleah started off the Tigers’ rally in the bottom of the seventh with a hit down the third base line. Miriam kept it going with another hit and Abby got on base thanks to an error. However, UMS was only able to get two runs in that inning and ultimately lost 9-6.

Jaden singled and scored in the second inning and Emily tacked on another run in the third inning thanks to a triple at the hands of Jacie. The Raiders got their lone run of the game in the fourth inning to cut the Tigers’ lead, 2-1. Tayla and Brooklyn each got on base with a single in the bottom of the fourth inning and Sydni laid down a bunt and got on to load the bases. Allison unloaded a bomb to left field for a grand slam that pushed the score to 6-1. Brynlee got on base with a single and a triple from Abby brought her home. Abby capped off the scoring, crossing the plate on a passed ball. Brynlee got on base in the sixth inning and scored the final run for UMS off a hit from Ava Northen. Abby pitched the first four innings of the game and recorded six strikeouts. Ava Leming pitched the final three innings with seven strikeouts, respectively. Every team member contributed to the Tigers' win in their third-straight game of the week.

Urbana 8 VS. Tri-county 0
After two innings, the Tigers had a 4-0 lead over Tri-County. UMS continued its scoring, picking up a run in the third and fifth innings. Tri-County did not get its first base runner until the fifth inning. But regardless, the visitors were unable to cross the plate. In the sixth inning, Ava Northen hit a triple and scored on a wild pitch, before Abby scored the final run of the game to make it 8-0. Allison, Jaden, and Ava Leming all had hits for the Tigers. Allison struck out 17 batters in the victory.
Urbana 17 vs. Parkside 7
After a scoreless two innings, the visiting Tigers got four runs in the third inning and three in the fourth for a 7-0 lead. Parkside finally got on base in the fourth inning and crossed the plate twice to make it 7-2. UMS picked up three runs in the fifth and the sixth innings, which proved to be needed insurance as the Tigers let a few defensive errors lead to Parkside runs. Ultimately, Urbana held tough for the 17-7 victory. Allison had 13 strikeouts from the circle and issued zero walks. Miriam, Allison, Ava Northen, Abby, Jaden, and Jacie all tallied hits for UMS.
UMS went through the line up in the top of the first to score five runs. Emily ended the Tigers’ at bat with an RBI single to bring Tayla in, who got on base with a single of her own. Halie also had a single and scored in the inning. The Pythons scored two in the first to make it 5-2. Neither team scored in the second inning, but Urbana added three runs in the third inning for a 8-2 lead going into Parkside’s last at bat. After throwing a player out at third as she attempted to stretch a hit into a triple, Parkside scored two more before the Tigers made the final out to come away with the 8-4 win.
Urbana 1 vs. north ridge 7
North Ridge earned two runs in the first inning and the Tigers got one back in the bottom of the first with a hit courtesy of Rylie. The Roadrunners got another run in the second inning to make it 3-1 after two. Urbana left bases loaded in the bottom of the third inning and only three more Tigers would reach base the rest of the game, ultimately leading to a 7-1 loss at home. Allison tallied 13 strikeouts in the game while North Ridge’s pitchers had a combined 10 K’s.
The Roadrunners had a 1-0 lead until the third inning when UMS tallied three runs courtesy of Aleah, Brynlee and Brooklyn. The Tigers’ defense held tough to secure the 3-1 win after five innings. Miriam had six strikeouts in the victory.
Urbana 12 vs. jefferson 1
UMS left bases loaded in the first inning and two on in the second inning. Allison hit a single to start off the third inning and two stolen bases and a passed ball later, she crossed the plate to score the first run of the game. Jaden scored the team’s second run in the top of the fourth and Jefferson got on the board with a run in the bottom of the fourth. The Tigers blew the game wide open in the top of the sixth inning with seven runs. Miriam had a single and Allison tripled before Jacie hit a two-run homer to deep right-center. UMS capped off its scoring with three runs in the sixth inning, starting with back-to-back singles from Jaden and Rylie. Miriam pitched the first five innings and didn’t walk any batters. Allison entered the circle in the sixth inning and issued three strikeouts to end the game with a 12-1 score in favor of the Tigers.
The Tigers’ bats were hot in the second game with UMS recording five runs in the first inning, five in the second inning and three in the third inning to lead to a 13-0 win. Halie, Ava Leming, Rylie, Brooklyn, Tayla, Aleah, and Brynlee all had hits for Urbana. Ava Leming struck out eight out of the nine batters that she faced in the second game.
URBANA 3 VS. VILLA GROVE 4 8 INNINGS
Allison recorded 16 strikeouts in the Tigers’ last game of their opening week. UMS scored first with Miriam’s walk to begin a two-out rally. Allison got on base with a single and Ava Northen had a hard hit single to drive in the two. Ava eventually made her way around the bases and stole home to give Urbana a 3-0 lead after the top of the third. Villa Grove picked up three runs of its own to tie the game at after five innings. The teams’ defenses held tough in the final two innings to send the game into an extra inning. UMS didn’t score in its turn in the top of the eighth. The game ended with a walk-off single that found a shallow hole in left field to drive in the lone Blue Devil on base and hand UMS its first loss of the season, 4-3.
The Tigers had a 1-0 lead after the first inning in game two. Aleah singled in the second inning for an RBI to ignite a six-run inning that ended with a home run from Jacie, giving the Tigers a 7-0 lead. Villa Grove slashed Urbana’s lead to two after getting five runs in the second. UMS picked up four more runs in its final at-bat and the Blue Devils scored once in the bottom of the third to give Urbana an 11-6 victory. Abby pitched for UMS. Tayla, Brooklyn and Abby each crossed the plate twice for the Tigers.
UrBANA 9 VS. Paxton-buckley-loda 3
Ava Leming drew a walk to start off the Tigers’ game against PBL and stole two bases en route to scoring the first run of the game. UMS held the 1-0 lead until the bottom of the third inning when the Tigers added five more runs to their lead. Urbana continued to cushion its lead in the fifth with two more runs. The Panthers got on the board in the top of the sixth inning to cut their deficit to 8-2. Allison hit a solo homer in the sixth inning to cap of UMS’ scoring. PBL mustered up another run in the seventh to make the final score 9-3 without the Tigers taking their last at-bat. Ava Leming pitched the complete game for the Tigers while Miriam made or assisted in eight of the outs at second base. Miriam, Allison, Ava Northen, Abby, Brishaun, Jaden and Emily all contributed RBIs to the win.
The Panthers first two batters singled before going on to give their team an early lead. With two outs and bases loaded, Miriam struck out a PBL batter to get out of the inning. Brynlee got on base with a walk and scored on a hit by Miriam. PBL went three up, three down in the second inning, leaving the score at 2-1. However, the Tigers bats heated up in the second inning, including a two-run home run at the hands of Riley to drive in Brooklyn who got on base with a hit. Allison, who came into the game to catch, had a triple for the Tigers. Her and Brynlee crossed the plate before Jacie hit a homerun to drive in Miriam and Ava Northen, completing the Tigers’ scoring for the inning and putting UMS ahead 8-2. PBL scored one run in the third inning to make the final score 8-3 after two and a half innings.
Urbana 14 vs. Rantoul-Eater 0
Urbana started the game off with two runs in the first inning. Although the Tigers went three up, three down in the second inning, they scored seven runs in the third inning. Jacie contributed to the big inning with a double that cleared the bases and drove in three runs. UMS strengthened its lead in its last at bat with five more runs. After having a sacrifice bunt earlier in the game, Allison hit a triple that she scored on with her aggressive base running. Ava Leming, Miriam, Ava Northen, Jaden, Brishaun and Abby all had hits contributing to the win. Allison retired 15 batters in the 14-0 shutout.
Game two was scoreless after one inning, but the Tigers made it through their batting rotation in the second inning and put five runs on the board. Those five runs would be enough as UMS captured the 5-0 win. Abby pitched to 12 batters in three innings and struck out seven
Urbana 13 vs. Franklin 3
After allowing two runs in the top of the first inning, the Tigers got three of their own to take a 3-2 lead. UMS improved on its lead throughout the game with Miriam, Allison, and Brishaun each contibuting a hit and Halie picking up two hits. Jacie started off the fifth inning with a double that bounced over the outfield fence before going on to score her third run of the game. Ava Leming struck out 10 batters in the season opener and only walked two in the Tigers’ 13-3 victory. In the second game, Miriam faced 12 batters in three innings and struck out six. UMS scored eight runs in the second inning and held Franklin to one run to take the second win of the evening, 8-1. With the bases loaded, Emily had a hit to right field and made her way around the bases to stretch a triple into a grand slam.
